Default Ways to survive mesmer spells as monk

Will any experienced monk players enlighten me as to how they work around mesmers to be able to actually survive and heal their team. Backfire, arcane conundrum, migraine, shame, power block and other interrupts, energy drain spells. Just seems like too much to handle if you have a good mesmer on you. I am assuming that you just have a warrior kick the crap out of them or something? I play a Monk/Necro by the way.

In your case I would have someone beat them for you. And while thats in progess heal them. Because if that Mesmer is tied up attacking then you have time to heal!

The most effective way is to shutdown the enemy mesmer first, whether it is through force or by having your own mesmer in your team. Spell breaker may slow down a good mesmer a little but it won't prevent him from nailing your monk(s).

Or you can have everyone be primary/secondary monks to confuse the mesmer

Have a player on your team that strips hexes easily. Convert Hexes works better vs necromancers but will get the job done, Remove Hex is unlinked, if desperate run Holy Veil? Only trouble with Holy Veil is that it will be disenchanted, as you can't layer another enchantment on it... Change to a Mo/Ranger and run Melandru's Resilience?

If you have a elemental secondary. Use obsidian skin, you cannot be the target of any spell.

Well its the job of the team to take out the enemy monk first and then the mesmers... so you should ask your team for some assistance...

You could ask a teammate ranger or mesmer to use some kind of disruption shots/spells...

Don't forget that in both these cases you can't be the target of healing either. There is no real way for a monk by themselves to handle being the focus of a mesmer shut down. You need teammates for that.

You should have multiple copies of Convert Hexes on your team and your mesmers should run with Inspired Hex. It's a great way to pluck backfires off your monks. If you're not on TS or Vent though you can pretty much forget about being able to coordinate it.

Call a hit on the Mesmer and beat them down. All good teams usually have at least one good energy denial/shutdown Mesmer.

Pre veil urself is always a good idea against hexes.
Also kite back a bit and draw the mes into your front line and let them do the beating.

Almost 2.5 years old. That's pretty ancient.

I usually play RA/TA, so this is from experience there.

Yeah, I usually pre-veil myself before each match. If I'm fast enough, I can sometimes remove the veil right after a very bad hex is cast (Migraine), but usually I can't.

If you are a good monk, you learn to cast in between Backfires and Diversions and last long enough for your other team members to take the mesmer down. Migraine is a killer. You really can only spam 1/4 casts, and hope for the best, or get another team member to have a hex removal.

hehe... I have to agree, there's a balance to be found between the shouts of:

"Use the search function fool!" and "Thread necromancy ftl!"

On the one hand we want people to use existing threads to make ideas known, but we don't want things dredged up from the depths of time.

This instance definately crosses the boundaries, 2.5 years is a long way to go back just to purport the advantages of Deny Hexes.
